I’ve taken a mini break from blogging last week.  I first decided to do this because I was becoming overwhelmed with my writing class and keeping up with blogging, then I encountered some pretty awful situations here in Korea.  I hope to share these on my blog soon, but I’m going to have to wait and see how things pan out.

In the meantime, I wanted to reflect on some old travels and bring attention to a place that many people don’t think to visit when in South America, the Galapagos Islands. Continue reading »

The faces of the Andean Highlands are those of a modern contradiction.   A charming and radiant smile peers through a dirty and fatigued face.  A striking tapestry worn on the shoulders of a woman is as piercing as the look in her eyes, but the tired wrinkles tell another story.   A subtle glance from one culture transfers to another, connecting for one moment, but forgotten the next.
